5th inter- primary school quiz held
Kalimpong August 7,
2015: eight primary schools contested against each other in the 5th
inter-school primary quiz competition in town hall today which was conducted by
the quiz master Ming Lewang who is also a renowned writer.
This was the first part
of the 25th P.R Pradhan Merit award which is usually observed in the
first week of August every year. The P.R Pradhan award is a two-day’ program
which hosts quiz finals for the primary schools and semi-finals for the
secondary schools in day one and finals along with merit awards in the second
day.
Today, Thupden Rapchi
Bhutiya-the superintendent of Darjeeling correctional home was present in the
program as a chief guest and Ajra T Namchu-the SDLRO as a guest of honor.
The program started
with a Biblical prayer by Rev. J.S Rai and was carried forward by the host of
the program, Monu Nima Pradhan.
However the primary
level quiz competition was winded by afternoon where Chandra Maya Primary
School stood first, Upper Dalapchan Pimary School and East Main Road Primary
School, second and third respectively.
In the second half of
the competition, 11 ICSE and Madhyamik schools competed against one another to
qualify in the semifinal round, out of 11, 6 schools (Saptashree Gyanpeeth,
Rockvale Academy, Springdale Academy, St. Josephs Convent, Vrindavan School,
Sunrise English School-Jaigoan) have been qualified for the finals which is
going to be held tomorrow.
The town-hall looked
smaller when compared with the number of audiences overflowed outside, however,
the number of audiences is expected to multiply tomorrow as Ugen Gatsyo
Bhutiya, the Tourism Minister of Sikkim is likely to attend tomorrow’s program.
