About 40 thousand Gurung are expected to attained the two days All India Gurung ( Tamu)convention (Maha adhiwesan) which is scheduled on 26 and 27 September at Kalimpong Mela ground .

8 thousand members from Dehradun, Baksu, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya and Sikkim as well as northeastern state and  registered members from Delhi and Sikkim will be present along with  entire members of the Darjeeling hills, Siliguri, Terai and from Duwars inform the organizing Committee in a press conference held at Delo .


Pressing te demand to include in ST list the Gurung now to strengthen the demand have decided to bring and unite all gurung residing all over the country irrespective of religion in one platform informed organizing committee.

Sabhasad Samuel Gurung , who is the main coordinator of the Gurung organization informed that the main aim and objective of the All India Gurung (Tamu) organization is to work for the demand of ST inclusion for which it has taken a national status.


There is no criteria for religion in Government ST list.indications of primitive traits, distinctive culture, geographical isolation, shyness of contact with the community at large, and backwardness etc which we fulfill he said.

All kind of Help is coming from Sikkim Minister Garjaman Gurung and H B Gurung of  All Sikkim Gurung(Tamu) Buddhist organization informed Samuel Gurung.

Member from Sikkim like Minister Garjaman Gurung , HB Gurung , DB Gurung, Tika Gurung, Navin Gurung, DR Gurung, Amar Gurung Gurung etc have been included in the All Indian Gurung (Tamu) organization organizing committee.

Two days session will include the traditional and cultural aspect of Gurung. Folk Singer kemraj Gurung and Sarita Gurung From Nepal too will be presented informed Chakra bahadur Gurung president of organizing committee .
