SUMI boys wins Half Marathon race organised by Kumidini Pariwar

Several institutions of the subdivision today participated in an inter-school Half Marathon and inter school athletic meet held here for the overall development of students.
This is for the Fourteen year that Kumdini Pariwar, the alumni association of Kumdini Homes School, organized a programme of this nature.
'It is important that children take part in extra-curricular activities. The event, held every year, motivates them to devote more time to practice, as a result of which they stay away from social evils such as drug abuse,' said Kumdini Pariwar president Dinesh Chandra Poudhyal, adding that the cash prize acts as an extra incentive.According to Poudhyal, the number of participating students has increased over the years.
Around 52 participants ran the Half Marathon race for boys, which started from Damber Chowk to 17th Mile Fatak and from Fatak the race end point was Mela ground, a distance of about 21 km. Binod Tamang of Scottish University Mission Institution emerged the winner . Dichen Sherpa Kumari Tamang of Pagang Gumba High School bagged the girls' category prize for the same event in which there were 52 participants. The race had started from the Delo to 17th Mile Fatak and ended at mela Ground which covered a distance of around 16 km.
Col Ramesh Allay was present as chief Guest of the day.
Sonam Yakha , social worker today announced a pair of Puma shoes for winner of both category meanwhile Baghajatin Club of Siliguri today announced that top 10 from both category will be sponsored for Road Race organised by Club on second week of October.
