Roshan Giri and agitating teacher meets Education minister, Partha appeals JISTO to withdraw strike

The state education minister, Mr. Partha Chatterjee today meet with the representatives of the agitating Janmukti Insecure Secondary Teachers Organization (JISTO)

A team of the JISTO led by the GTA Sabha member. Mr. Roshan Giri visited and met the minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee at Circuit house in Kalimpong today, in which, Mr. Giri briefed the minister regarding the problems faced by the GTA in the field of education including the ongoing problems of JISTO, who have been agitating for their jobs regularization for the past several days. 

Talking to the reporters, Mr. Roshan Giri said that they enlightened the minister regarding the various problems faced by the GTA in the field of education including the issue of the JISTO. He further added that the minister has given positive assurances from his side as well as he has also invited them in Kolkata with the relevant documents including appointment letter of the JISTO.

Talking to the media, the minister, Partha Chatterje said that Mr. Roshan Giri came along with those people who are on hunger strike. He said he told him he is different person hence not to put pressure on me as the legacy of last government cannot be the responsibility of the present government. The minister said he is sympathetic towards their problems and even under those circumstances the quality of education should not be sacrificed. He in a strict tone said that only 516 voluntary teacher cannot decide the fate of thousands of student. He requested  to withdraw the ongoing hunger strike after meeting with JISTO leaders. He also said that presently around one and half lakhs teachers have been agitating across the state on different issues. Even then, he has invited them in Kolkata to discuss and solve these problems.

The minister along with Roshan Giri and MLA have too appeal the agitator to lift the agitation.

Before meeting the JISTO delegation, the minister also met the headmaster of the different educational institutions as well as he also met the MLA from Kalimpong, Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri.

Mr. Chatterjee was there in Kalimpong today as a chief guest to attend the closing ceremony of the 125 anniversary Celebration program of Kalimpong Girls HS School.
Meanwhile JISTO secretary Vivek Newar after meeting said that the strike will continue but we may cut the paper at the place of agitation.
