Newar Youth Organisation demands Welfare Board

The Newar Yuwa Sangathan have come forward with the demand for separate welfare board. As of now five different tribes of Darjeeling hills have thier separate welfare board which include Lepcha,Tamang,Bhutia, Sherpa and Mangar. Meanwhile Rai, Khas, Biswakarma along with other communities are actively demanding for board. The Newar Yuwa Sangathan has already sent memorandum to State CM, State Home secretary and State Backward class in charge SK Thade recently when he visited Kalimpong Last week. 

Today briefing the press for the first time Ravi Pradhan the secretary of the  Youth Organization told that about 10% of the Newar are well established but the remaning 90% are below poverty level.

The sangathan was formed in 1993 but was inactive for many years now its has been revamped and the new body have been raising the demand for separate welfare board for the all round development of 90% newar of West Bengal area.

Pradhan told we are getting full support of our people from different area which is working as energy booster to us. He told we are here not to built a organization that collect only membership fee and do nothing. He want to achieve the target which we have taken up.

Anuraj Pradhan the secretary of the organization told that the newar have rich culture, our food , our own language, our ethnic culture and way of living. But it need to be conserved for which a section of youth is thinking for all the community which was not done before. We think that conservation can be done by Development board.

He informed that the community will be actively participating in the two day Kalimpong Mahotsav starting 28 and 29 at Kalimpong Town Hall organized by Srijansil Samuh of Kalimpong.
