Mani Trust successfully organised Environment Awareness cum Community Based Plantation Programme at East Main Road in Kalimpong on 31/7/2016.

Mani Trust's Community based Plantation Programme has target to plant 21000 trees sapling plantation in all blocks of Darjeeling hills.

Environment Awareness Programme commenced with the welcome speech and importance of environment in our life by Mani Trust Trustee Mr. Bishal Tirva. The Municipal Ward No.14 Councillor Mr. Varun Bhujel said that Plantation Programme should be done in landslide prone areas of the villages which will help to protect our land as well as our health in future. He thanked Mani Trust and all the participants for keeping the awareness & plantation programme in his ward. Lastly addressing, Mani Trust Founder Chairman Mr. Subash M Singh said that the Trust has Health and Medical Tourism on top priority among its 11 initiatives and since health is related with environment, the trust has an initiative called "Lets Save Environment" under which we sensitise grass level mass about the importance and protection of environment by organising Environment Awareness and Community based Plantation Programme. He said, we have no control on natural calamities but we can always contribute to save our planet by planting trees which help to regulate and heal our eco-system helping us to live healthy life and protect us such natural calamities. He also urged Government to stop Hydro-Electric Projects in the region to protect the ecology and natural beauty of Darjeeling hills which is the main attraction of tourism and prospective of economy for many sustainable livelihoods. He thanked all the participants specially youths of East Main Road, East Main Road Bhajan Mandaly's Children from Group Nos. 2 and 3 and local residents for making the programme a grand success.

Mani Trust Advisor Mr. Narayan Gazmer, Trustees Rizwan Rehman, Arbind Pradhan, Mr. Ajay Agarwal, Mrs. Beena Lohagun, Mrs. Reshma Singh and volunteers were present in the programme.
