Awareness programme on ‘Polythene use and its environmental hazards’ held

KALIMPONG, June 08:
The
Taklin Gandhi Smarak School today organized an awareness programme regarding
the use of polythene bags and its environmental hazards. The main aim of this
programme was to make people aware of the adverse effects of polythene bags and
also to appeal the public to stop its use. The students also took out a rally
regarding the same.
A
competition was also held on the topic ‘has the development of Science created
issues or not’. During this Joy Lepcha and group stood as the winners followed
by Elmi Tamang and group in the second. A quiz competition was also held in
which Yowan Tamang, Piyush Tamang and Izad Bareily stood 1st, 2nd
and 3rd respectively. The Krishak Kaliyan Sangathan General
Secretary, Vishnu Chettri along with the School’s Pricipal Patrus Lepcha and KB
Chettri and HB Chettri from the School Management Committee were also present.
