Heavy down pours affected people at large

Kalimpong
people have been facing a lot of difficulties as a result of the heavy
downpour. Paths have become muddy and slippery and some of the communications
are cut off at the remotest place. Some hamlets on the low land have been water
locked and several landslide have occurred posing risk for the residences. The
daily laborers are struggling to earn their daily bread, the students stories
have been the same and the commuters on the other hand have been facing lots of
problems. Apart from these many diseases has been witnessed due to the monsoon
season. The water due to drain blockade resulted over flowing all around the
Main road today. The heavy overnight rainfall on Tuesday has posed threat to
the house of Subash and Prakash Pradhan at Bharighot Golay in Pedong and a
house of Asit Biswakarma at Eastman Road. Asit Biswakarma earlier had built a
protective wall due to the landslide but it got collapsed by the September 18
earthquake. The areas of Kalimpong under Ward No 15 have witnessed several
landslides. As per the Metrological Department about 250 mm rain had fallen
till today evening. They also informed that this year the rainfall has been low
