Relay hunger strike enters Day 7

KALIMPONG, June 21:
The relay hunger strike
by the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha (GJYM) at Damber Chowk today entered its 7th
day. Five GYJM members namely Bishal Chettri (28), Prakash Lepcha (38), Gauri
Sharma (42), Niraj Chettri (32) and Ongden Lepcha (32) from semi urban zone 2
have participated in the said strike.
It may again be
mentioned here that the GJYM has been staging the relay hunger strike demanding
the cancellation of the Shyamal Committee report and the Fact Verification
Committee’s report to be transparent. The GJYM a sub faction of the Gorkha
Janmukti Morcha (GJM), feels that mockery has been done towards the Gorkhas and
the Adivasis through the report. Until and unless withdrawal orders are not passed
from the GJM Central Committee, the strike shall go on.
