KALIMPONG, June 17:
The
Tibetan Community under the leadership of the Tibetan Womens Association today
took out a rally from the Maney Lakha Gumpa protesting against China’s oppression
on Tibet and the Tibetans. The procession after encircling the town dissolved
at the starting venue itself. Along with the Tibetans, the Buddhist monks and
nuns were also present at large. Holding the pictures of His Holiness the Dalai
Lama along with the national flag, Tibetan flag and candles, the mass shouted
out protests against China. The member of the Tibetan Youth Congress, Chamba
Bhutia informing about the rally said that a 60 year old Tibetan self immolated
himself in China. Hence, they after being informed by their head quarters in
Delhi took out the rally today. Lastly, adding that China’s domination over
Tibet and the Tibetans is growing strong day by day, Bhutia questioned, “Why is
the United Nations (UN) staying put in this matter?”
