The
1st day of the name withdrawal process for the Gorkhaland
Territorial Administration (GTA) elections proved to be lucky for the Kalimpong
Yuva Morcha President, Sunil Pradhan who was nominated as the Gorkha Janmukti
Morcha (GJM) candidate from the 35 No Bong- Durbin Constituency. Along with
Pradhan, candidates of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Rashtriya Jan Adhikar
Suraksha (RJAS) Party, Gautam Kalikotey and Shivani Yorsha Pradhan respectively,
had filed for nominations. But the withdrawal of names by these two candidates today
has resulted uncontested win for the GJM candidate.
Likewise,
the Kalimpong Subdivision’s only Communist Party of Marxist (India) (CPM),
candidate Pyatu Lepcha from the 38 No Lava- Lingsey Constituency too, withdrew
his name. After Lepcha’s withdrawal, now the competition will be between the
GJM and the TMC candidate from this Constituency. The last date of withdrawal
is July 12, 2012 until 3 p.m.
