After
the ending of the nomination proceeding for the upcoming GTA elections, the
scrutiny of the candidates under the three Sub Divisions was held today at
Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong where two Independent candidates’ nominations
were rejected.
The
nomination of Independent candidate backed by the Trinamool Congress Indra
Kamal Biswakarma from the Darjeeling Bloomfield Rishihat constituency was
cancelled by the officers at the scrutiny held today at the District Magistrate
Office under Darjeeling Sub Division. The reason for cancellation of nomination
has been informed as documentation problem.
Now
GJM’s Binay Tamang and CPI (M) Jony Mukhia will contest against each other in
the said constituency.
The
Kalimpong Sub Divisional Officer LN Sherpa today announced that all the
candidature of all 26 candidates who had
filed nomination in 13 different constituencies under Kalimpong Sub Division have
been accepted. The Trinamool Congress candidates were today brought under tight
security at the Sub Divisional Office and were taken back to Siliguri under
tight police protection.
However,
on the other hand GJM’s Samuel Gurung, the candidate for the 44 Number Samsing
Kumai Constituency has filed a complaint to the SDO against his TMC opponent
Urgen Sherpa for not resigning from the Sinkona plantation before filing the
nomination. The SDO has assured to call both the team and to announce the
judgment later. The day also had the presence of the Kalimpong ASP Songmit
Lepcha, in charge Prashad Pradhan.
Likewise
the nomination of the Independent candidate, Sarda Subba for Sittong Latpanchar
constituency was cancelled under Kurseong Sub Division concerning her problems
in the Voter ID.
The
GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri for Sittong Latpanchar constituency is now
declared uncontested.
