GJM shall win the GTA elections uncontest, claims Morcha Chief Dawa Lepcha as a candidate from Pedong Constituency

As the Gorkhaland
Territorial Administration (GTA) elections are nearing the Gorkha Janmukti
Morcha (GJM) is selecting candidates and organizing mass meetings on full swing
in the hills. Bimal Gurung, the head of the much loved political party of the
hills have been claiming that the Morcha candidates will surely win the
elections uncontest.
The GJM today held a
mass public meeting at Delo Tourist Lodge some 12 km above Kalimpong. During
which the Morcha Chief, Bimal Gurung proposed the name of Dawa Lepcha as the
candidate for GTA elections from the Pedong Constituency. Lepcha is also the Secretary
of the GJM Pedong Zone,
During the meeting
Gurung underling the contribution of the Morcha towards its people said that
till date all the Morcha has taken decisions only after consulting the general
public. “We have taken decisions thoroughly keeping in mind the wishes and hope
of the people”, he asserted. Expressing his gratitude towards the public for
making the GJM candidates win in the earlier elections, the Morcha Chief
mentioned that the public has played a major role in making the Morcha
candidates for the MLAs and Municipalities win.

“For smooth functioning
of GTA the leaders who are ever ready to work for the
people is needed, and I shall individually select such kind of selfless
leaders”, Gurung added. “We need to prove the State and the Central Government
that we are capable of running the Administration smoothly and if GTA will not
run properly then the public should voice against it”, added the Morcha Chief
confidently.
Saying that at present Benay
Tamang is looking over Kalimpong GJM; Gurung asserted that there is no capable
person in Kalimpong who can run a party properly. The win over the GTA will be
definite and it will be uncontest and he added that if any opposition put
forward their candidates then it proves that they too have accepted GTA.
Further, Gurung mentioning
a song sung by one Mahesh Sewa where he referring to the Kalimpong MLA, Dr
Harka Bahadur Chettri had mockingly questioned, “Daant nikalne doctor ta hoina? Doctor
hoki buddhijivi?” Gurung countered that now the singer will get his answer who
Dr Chettri is? A dentist or an intellect? The way Dr Chettri has synchronized
the system and functioned proves his efficiency, he added.
Expressing his hope
over the report of the newly formed Fact Verification Committee, the Morcha
President said that he is hopeful that at least 70- 80 mouzas shall be
recommended this time. He also informed that soon after the GTA formation 3-
tier Panchayat elections shall be conducted followed by 2- tier.
Lastly, answering the
questions raised by the media for proposing the name of Dipen Maley who is held
as one of the main accused of the Madan Tamang murder case, Gurung clarified
that Maley has been victimized without any faults. “In India everything is
possible. All the murderers, evicted and corrupted people are free to contest
in the elections in this democratic country”, stated Gurung. Maley shall
definitely win uncontest, he claimed.
Also during the meeting
the GJM Central Committee Joint Secretary, Benay Tamang and Vice President
Kalyan Dewan stressed about the developments within the public through the
Morcha. Municipality President, LB Pariyar was also present during the meeting.
