GTF marks the anniversary of GTA as black day

The
Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF) today carried massive postering drive in the Hills
following the resentment on the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration which
today marks its first anniversary. The GTF along with the Bharitya Gorkha Parisangh
had already announced their programmes for July 18 as black day, a day earlier
at Kalimpong. “The tripartite agreement signed between the Centre, State and
the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha on July 18, 2011 is a black day for the Gorkhas of
the country” says a poster at Damber Chowk. It furthers states that the GTA has
been a blunder and a conspiracy against the Gorkhas, in fact an injustice to
the 1200 martyrs and their blood.

MAIL said that the posters were torn
within few hours by the unidentified groups at Darjeeling after they
were pasted by GTF members . The GTA can never replicate the demand of separate
State Gorkhaland but will add more nuisances in days to come added Moktan. The
GTF member also the President of the Gorkha National Liberation Front Dawa
Pakhrin talking to the reporter in Kalimpong said that the people needed
Gorkhaland not the GTA, a mere system handled by the State Government. The GJM
Chief Bimal Gurung and other Councilors had resigned from the Darjeeling Gorkha
Hill Council on March 21, 2005, but again the acceptance of the GTA bears no
resemblance.
Pakhrin
also condemned the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee statement as ‘beggars’ to the
Gorkhas instead the Gorkhas are hardworking, honest and even had sacrificed
their life for the good cause he informed. “The CM insulted the Gorkhas terming
us as beggars” said Pakhrin. The people cannot trust such leaders whose vision
is so limited and discriminatory added Pakhrin.
The
GTF Chairman Dr Enos Das Pradhan also termed July
18 as a black day for all the Gorkhas in the country. The postering after some
time was all torn away by the unidentified groups in Kalimpong too.
The
GTF member JB Rai questioned the GJM on tearing of the entire poster if they
really wanted Gorkhaland.
The
GJM on the other hand is of the opinion that GTA is not a barrier but a ladder
to Gorkhaland. It is after the establishment of the GTA that development, peace
and harmony shall prevail in the Hills ultimately forming the Gorkhaland.
It
is also learnt that the GTF along with other parties will have an indoor
meeting mainly for Gorkhaland at the Terai-Dooars on July 21 followed by a
public meeting on July 27.
