Hills educated youths likely to miss GTA election for SSC examination on July 29

Many
educated unemployed youths of the Hills is learnt to miss to exercise their
voting rights for the upcoming Gorkha Territorial Administration election
slated on July 29 as School Service Commission examination coincides with the
date. The absence of the SSC Board in
the Hills has forced the unemployed youths to reach the plains for filling up
the forms. The issue of the admit cards for the said examination has started.
More
than 6 lacs of the unemployed youths will be sitting for the examination which
coincides with the GTA election. One of the youth talking with SIKKIM MAIL at Kalimpong said that “I
belong to Kurseong and I had made plans to reach Kurseong on July 28, but the
examination date has stunned me”. He expressed his dilemma whether to vote in
the election or to face the examination which he has been preparing since many
months. Everyone in the Hills is said to have filled the examination forms. The
GJM Spokesperson also the MLA Kalimpong Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri said that he
will be keeping the issue before the party High Command in order to sort out
the problem. Every individual in a democratic set up have right to vote and no
one can take away the rights he added. Dr Chettri assured that the party will
aware the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who will be visiting the Hills on July
13. It is now the time that decides whether the educated youths can exercise
their right of not.
