Landslide halted NH31A

Due
to the continues rainfall in Kalimpong, news of landslides at various places
have been reported. The lifeline of the Sikkim and Kalimpong NH31A today for
the second time halted for hours because of the morning landslides at
Labarbotey which lies in Melli police post under Kalimpong Sub-Division. The
road was cleared after 1 ½ hour owing to the efforts of the GREF personal.
Likewise the landslide at Suntalay under the Rambi police jurisdiction near
halted the highway for 4 hours which resulted severe harassment for the highway
commuters. As per the Meteorological Department, 110 mm of rainfall was
recorded from Sunday night to Monday morning and they also have informed that
the rainfall can be continued for another 48 hours in Darjeeling.
