Relay hunger strike called off in Kalimpong

Kalimpong, June 30:
The 16th day of the ongoing relay hunger
strike by the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha (GJYM) saw the participation of the
youths from Ward No 7, namely, Surendra Subba (aged 35), Sonam Tamang (aged
33), Bhaskar Pradhan (aged 32), Sunil Chettri (aged 33) and Ganga Chettri (aged
32). The said strike being conducted at Damber Chowk by the GJYM is said to be
withdrawn only after they get the command from the Morcha Central Committee. It
may again be mentioned that the GJYM is staging the hunger strike opposing the
Shyamal Committee report which they believe is a farce. The recommendation of
only 5 mouzas of Terai- Dooars under Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA)
has upset the Morcha along with its sub factions and supporters.The strike was withdrawn today evening at 6 p.m . Tags: LOCAL
