STRIKE CALLED OFF

The strike called by the Janmukti Himalaya National Highway Driver Association against the domination of the owners and the contractors today was called out. The Association which has more than 150 trucks
from Sikkim used to transport rice to the State, but with the strike problems have started cropping up. The Association president uttam rai today informed that the trucks which were on duty to bring rice from FCI go downs situated at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) to Rangpo and Jorethang FCI go downs will start functioning from tomorrow .The decision have come after a meeting was held at SDO L N SHERPA office where association member, FCI contractor ,FCI officials and owner association was present the meeting did not have a fruitful result but
the assurance given by the SDO to the association to take the matter to district and state level have compelled the association to take the step. We will wait for some time but if the assurance are not fulfilled we will again striking for our demand said bhanu gurung advisor of the driver association
