MUKESH SHARMA
Kalimpong, January 12:
After the Bengal government employed the Maoists who have been alleged of being terrorists and absconders, many questions have aroused from the oppositions against the WB government. Similarly, it is also being opposed in the hills.
It may be mentioned that on January 05, 2013, employment of 33 Maoists for home guards was announced and their appointment letters were also issued. The WB Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee did afore said announcement during a meeting at West Midnapore.
The CID, Additional Director General of Police, Shivaji Ghosh had said that those deployed individuals have been labeled as terrorists and absconders. As per Police records, none of the cases against them have been dismissed. Likewise, the Midnapore North Zone Inspector General of Police, Gangeshwar Singh had also said that the employment will raise legal issues.
Mentioning the same, the CPM leader, Tara Sundas questioned that why the allegations charged during the Gorkhaland agitation has not been removed in the hills. Why is this discrimination towards the hills?
Saying that the Bengal Home Ministry Chief Secretary says that home guard is not a governmental job, Sundas questioned that if it is so then why the members of the Gorkhaland Personnel (GLP) are not being deployed for the post of home guard? The GLP is only remembered during the time of insurgency, he added.
Further, he said that in 2011-12, 781 clubs of Bengal were given 15 crores out of which each club was distributed 2 lakhs each. Similarly in 2012-13 40 crores was given. The government had asked the area MLAs the details of the clubs of their respective areas. But none of the clubs here have received 2 lakhs, he told and demanded that it should be made clear whether the MLAs here have sent the details of the clubs.
