The central government under its health scheme had provided to treat the Below Poverty Lines families free of cost. The expanses occurred in the treatments are totally beard by the government. But the poor families in the Hills are sidelined of the said facilities as none of the hospitals in Kalimpong are included under the government lists.
The poor families have to either go to Siliguri or Darjeeling on their own expanses. Looking at the problems, the Kalimpong Krishak Kalyan Sangathan has demanded the inclusion of the Kalimpong hospital under the government lists. The general secretary of the Sangathan Bishnu Chettri today submitted a memorandum to the deputy magistrate H Roy on the matter.
