The scene in kalimpong  wore a deserted look with the beginning of ' ghar bitra janta" program today Curfew' today as masses preferred to remain indoors.

Everything was shut, streets and market places in the hill town wore a deserted look since early this morning due to the janata curfew (people policing the streets). People have been staying inside their houses in protest of the statement and demanding separate Gorkhaland state. Large numbers of security personnel have been deployed to contain any untoward situations.

Police personal, press reporter and dogs cat and goat were seen in the market.

Vehicular movement in NH 31 A was not affected by the program as it was normal.
