Monsoon Strike, 2 dead and 1 injured at NH 31 A

Kalimpong, June 24:
2 died while 1 sustained
injuries in a road mishap yesterday at around 10 p.m. at Birik Dara NH
31A , 35kms away from Kalimpong town which falls under Rambi check post
area . The Tata Sumo vehicle bearing number WB 73C/5611 fell 200ft
below. The vehicle was going towards Siliguri from Darjeeling Via
Jorethang.

below. The vehicle was going towards Siliguri from Darjeeling Via

The overnight rain is being blamed for the accident. The
deceased have been identified as Rajesh Gupta (30) and Partha Chatterjee
(34) residents of Purulia and hoogli Distirct . Partha Chatterjee was a
Assistant Manager ( Deployment Division) of Bharti Airtel while Rajesh
Gupta was a Super visior with a associate company of Airtel.
The lone
survivor Deepak Gupta(24)of Lava Kalimpong was rescued and admitted to
Kalimpong Sub Divisional Hospital over night . The bodies of both were
sent to Kalimpong for post mortem .The vehicle
too has been taken out
from the accident spot this afternoon.This is the second accident
reported in a week where a truck fell down 100 ft at 27th Mile area
where the bodies of Driver and Helper has not yet been found yet.
