About 18 road accident has been recorded at Kalimpong upto April month. According to information received from sources out of 18 accident 12 have took place in National Highway 31A that too in the area which falls under Kalimpong police station jurisdiction.Starting from the month of January this year a total of 2 cases of Road Traffic Accident was recorded out of which in one of the case the Driver of a truck was killed at Gelkhola. Meanwhile the month of February recorded 5 RTA cases in which 3 cases death case occured. Out of 5 case 4 were recorded in National Highway where 2 truck driver were killed in accident recorded at Laberbotey under Malli O.P and Near Hanuman mandir  under Rambi C.P. March month too witness 5 RTA cases in which 4 cases was registered only at N.H area.A total of 2 person died and 7 became injured in this month.April month witnessed 6 road accident out of which 3 accident occurred at N.H. A total of 6 person lost their lives and 14 person was injured . The Sikkim Savari vehilce accident at Malli too took place in the same month were 5 passenger were killed and 8 injured. Meanwhile a Truck driver was killed at Mamkhola under Rompu Check post.The rate of road accident in National Highway 31 A has been a issue of concern for both Bengal and Sikkim. Driver and vehicle owners have pointed out for strong safety to minimize accident due to skidding off in the river. Beside the stretch covering from Rompu to  Sevoke despite being a accident prone zone lacks a recovery van service and a Ambulance for a prompt rescue and relief operation at the time of accidents . The hospital which is located at Rambi lacks proper medical infrastructures.
