With the increasing incidents of crime, substance abuse and harming public properties in Kalimpong, Sukramani Rai, 55, a resident of Barmek loses 30,000 Rs in the public toilet few minutes after withdrawing the money from the state bank of India, today. A staff of Cinchona Plantation in Barmek came to withdraw the GPF he received which immediately got robbed in the public toilet, motor stand around 1:30 pm. “After I withdrew the money I winded my other works and walked towards the public toilet, I felt a damp in my shirt which had to be cleaned and kept walking till I reached the toilet, I hung my bag in the nail against the wall and got inside wash the dirt from my shirt, after I came back my bag was missing” Rai told the Medias. He instantly filed a complaint in the police station where the police are trying to resolve the unending and unavoidable matters in the town. People believe that the sudden increase of the hoodlums have caused many damages to the public property including the statue of the freedom fighter Jangabir Sapkota located in the 9th mile Kalimpong. “After the interval of frequent rapes and murders, robbery interferes, I don’t feel safe at Kalimpong” Said an ex student of St. Josephs Convent. Rai regretted and doubted if the man followed him from the bank which is often crowded especially on Saturday’s. “The money earned by my hard work just slipped away in a duration of three minutes” Said Rai who seemed extremely sad.
