Fear of Landslide forced villagers to Shift, cry for rehabilitation

After campaigning three days in the Jungles of 2nd Mile due to fear the total of 35 families of Poshyer and Tashiding area today under its Sabhasad Kazim Tshering Bhutia met the Kalimpong Administration . The families today appealed the administration to rehabilitate all as day by day and year by year the place they live is been eroded by River Tista down under and continuous landslide is occurring in down area of the Village.
One of the victim Amrita Chettri today told KNE that the problem started from year 2006 onward when a jhora became so dangerous that it swept all the bridges and pulls and every year the condition is getting worst. She said that even her father in law was swept away and the body was found the next day in 2009. The Victim today submitted a memorandum demanding rehabilitation .  


Local GTA Councillor Kazim Tshering Bhutia lead the families and asked the administration to inspect the area which has been very risky. She even complain about the behavior of the Panchayat officials when this victim went for Help. Deputy Magistrate Pritam Limbu took the memorandum in absence of SDO who will conduct a meeting soon in this issue informed Limbu.Villagers said that the condition they faced is miserable . Medical attention is need said Puspa Thapa who said that the mosquito is creating problem in the jungles. She said a temporarily three shade has been created .In one food is being cooked , one for gents and one for Ladies and small Children. She added that no help from administration has been provided yet . Save the Hills’ Convener Praful Rao was too present today who has been stocking the situation closely.
