12th Sept 2014:
A dozen of houses had a sleepless night fearing
the slides gushing down at Zero Point under Nimbong Gram Panchayat, 41
constituency yesterday. The road towards Sinji, samalbung Via Nimbong,
Bakhrakot leading to the highway of Bagpool has demolished with the
natural calamity of landslide falling to 100-150 meters below. Referring
to the weather condition of last two days the inhabitant of Nimbong
Anil Chettri said “The landslide dint occur because of rainfall, the
last two days were very sunny moreover zero point was a sinking area.”
The land slide slowly started around 10 am yesterday which was of 10
meters, it gradually fell the entire night threatening the public living
in the surrounding.
According to the information received from the
spot, the panchayat went for an observation this morning assuring aids
to the affected houses whereas the assurances were awaited till evening
and the delay made the people shift to their relatives’ houses in a
safer region. Whereas Chettri said that the destruction doesn’t seem
repairable, and an alternative should be provided for transportation
where people have to transport to places for various reasons. “Students
from Gasok, Ghantidara and Pailaline go to school every day, how will
they further transport with the knowledge of the catastrophe?” he
questioned. Learning about the calamity and the destruction of Nimbong
Zero point, the Block Development Officer (block 1) Bimalindu Das said
“The affected houses shall be sheltered.”
