Residents of East Paiyu ,18 kilometers away from the K-town today woke
up to yet another crime, this time with the murder of one Harsha Kumai,
aged 88. The slain octogenarian was allegedly hacked to death with an
axe last night by his 35 year old nephew Bipal Kumai. Bipal is Harsha's
younger brother's son and had been staying with Harsha since last 25
years. Neighbours are perplexed trying to find answers as to why an old man, who had showered immense love
and
loathed the man since his boyhood with all possible happiness in the
world, would have a fate written of being murdered in such grue-some way
from the hands of his nephew. According to the neighbors Bipal was
always loved and pampered by his old uncle. “It is shocking that Bipal
killed his uncle who treated him like his own son” said a lady who
accompanied the body to the dead house. A neighbour who came to use
Hasha’s toilet in the morning sensed something amiss and called the boy
but didn’t get any response from either of the two. It was then she
peeped inside only to find to her horror the blood stains splattered
across the house. She then raised the alarm and soon neighbours gathered
at the spot. The police after reaching the site found Bipal lying
alongside the corpse. Bipul was said to have stood quite and uttered no
words while he was interrogated by the police at the murder site.
“Despite
all the goodness the man possessed, he had a habit of drinking. He was a
chronic alcoholic” said Dashrat Kumai, a relative. The accused was
produced to the court today and has been charged under Section 302 of
the IPC.
