Kalimpong December 31, 2014: Prafula Singh and Rajesh Rai were caught by the neighbors stealing bike in Barmek, block II, which is 19 kilometers away from kalimpong town. They were arrested by the police today.
It was known that they ship the stolen bikes to Nepal and sell them. Amir Lama a resident of Barmek (sipai dhura) filed a complaint against them in the police station today. According to the information received from him, his bike (pulser 180) was parked next to his house. ‘The thieves might have stolen it around 3:00 am’ said Lama.
‘By the time they reached the road, my neighbor, Nawang Bhutia saw them with my bike and made noises, when I woke up to know the situation, I found my doors locked from outside’ added Lama. The noises also made the thieves flee and that’s when the neighbors assembled and caught the duo with the bike.
It was known that the thieves were taken to the Mansang police camp and when interrogated they introduced themselves as Prafula Singh and Rajesh Rai, from Kakaribhitta Nepal, they also informed that they were assisted with two more friends.
However, they were booked with section 379 under IPC, and they will be produced in the court tomorrow.
