After a 6 month of a different atmosphere here Morcha was able to defend its constituency. Morcha  candidate Sarita Rai defeated her nearest rival Dr Harka Bahadur Chhetri by a margin of 11,431 votes in total.  The wait was finally over today when a huge number of party supporter of both the party gathered near to counting centre at SUMI school. From the First to fifth round Rai lead the trot with a 4000 plus vote after which the morcha supporter started to celebrated but soon their celebration was cut short when JAP lead 6^th ,7^th and 9 round. But again the Lead pick up by Rai from 11 to 19 round helped her reached to her victory . CPRM party who first filed its candidate Kishore Pradhan got 5714 vote , NOTA 3364, Gorkha Rastriya Congress Amar Loksham 3201 and Brigunath Gupta 1751 in total. Sarita Rai a female candidate have been chosen after a gap of nearly 30 years. Rai who after winning expressed her gratitude to all mass of Kalimpong. She said Dr Chhetri left the Kalimpong District issue and now it’s my duty to take it forward. She promised to work for the masses. Meanwhile Morcha Chief Bimal Gurung who was campaigning here from 17^th May was seen dancing with party supporter outside party at JanMukti Park. Gurung who had before one month told that he will be dancing on 19^th May.

Speaking to reporter he said Margin doesn't matter a win is a win. He said I am very most happy with the result of Kalimpong as many anti Gorkhaland forces combined too did not defeat us. Giving Suggestion to Dr Chhetri he said one must learn from the defeat . If u learn u will win. This is what I wanted to say to him.
