Just after Calcutta High Court has given clearance for the formation of three Districts including Kalimpong the administrative exercise have started. Today Darjeeling DM Anurag Srivastava and SP Darjeeling Amit P Javalgi today visited different vacant lands for new administrative setup.

Both DM and SP Darjeeling reached Kalimpong this afternoon and visited many vacant area. DM Darjeeing Anurag Srivastava said “This is a preparatory visit , we have visited different vacant lands with survey teams, CM have announce From Pahila Baishak Kalimpong will act as a full fledged District for which we have started our work”.

He informed that State Chief Secretary Basudev Banerjee and PWD Secretary will visit Kalimpong on Monday to hold discussion on the preparatory work needed before it emerges as New District.

When asked on the boundary of New Kalimpong District DM informed the existing Subdivision boundary will be the boundary of New Kalimpong District.

Meanwhile the present SDO office will act as DM office, ACJM court as District court and ASP office as SP Kalimpong Office informed DM Srivastava.

SP Darjeeling Amit P Javalgi informed that we are looking a place to set up new police line as the whole police unit which is required in a District will move to Kalimpong. He informed New police station will emerge after District start it works. Many senior officers along with whole strength of District Police will come with District. We are working out a place to set up Police Line.

DM and SP Darjeeling along with many other officials today visited Dalapchand, PTTI Land, PWD lands Police land near Novelty area and Kalimpong Circuit house etc area.

Geographically, the total area of Kalimpong is 1056 square kilometers which makes Kalimpong the largest sub-division however the total area of the district is 3149 square kilometers.
