The Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF), Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL) and Gokhaland Rajya Nirma Morcha (GRNM) has decided not to attend the all party meeting called on by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on Thursday at Gymkhana Hall, Darjeeling. The GJM chief, Bimal Gurung during his speech in a meeting at the Gymkhana Hall on Tuesday had said that the Morcha will be calling an all party meet. He had also said that after an hour of the all party meet, the Gorkhaland agitation will be initiated. Al the representatives of the political factions who attend the meeting will be sent to Delhi along with the former Vice Chancellor of Sikkim University, Dr MP Lama.

Gurung’s speech which was delivered on Tuesday was telecasted in Kalimpong on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. In a meeting held at the residence of GRNM President, Dawa Pakhrin, Gurung’s speech was highly discussed. The meeting objected Gurung’s attitude while delivering the speech. The GTF Chairman Sukhman Moktan said that they object Gurung’s dominating attitude. He informed that Gurung said only 2 representatives from one party should attend the all party meet.

“We are not brought up in such political environment. Politics should have principles and political parties should be respected. Thus, we have decided not to attend the meet”, said Moktan.

Further he reiterated that GTA is a hindrance for Gorkhaland and needs to be dissolved. The MLAs needs to resign. Until all these happen nothing can happen of Gorkhaland formation, he said and added that everybody should remain united and chalk out a road map and code of conduct for the agitation.

The GTF has appealed the Morcha to run for the Gorkhaland agitation sincerely.

Moktan also expressed happiness over having met NB Bhandari, former CM of Sikkim and Dr MP Lama.

The ABGL General Secretary, Pratap Khati said that Gurung cannot be believed on his words that he delivers. He promises something and does not keep up to it, he said.

Lastly, Dawa Pakhrin also announced that they will be following the GTF’s decision and not attend the meet.
