Lecpha community celebrate of passing of LDC resolution

Though there might be objections from the GTA regarding the passing of resolution for the Lepcha Development Council (LDC) by the chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the Lepcha community in Kalimpong seems to be happy. Shouting ‘Achuley’, the Lepchas here burst crackers at Damber Chowk today expressing their happiness and thanking the CM. The chief coordinator of Lepcha Rights Movement also the joint secretary of ILTA, NT Lepcha was also present during the celebrations.
Speaking with the reports her, he said that the decision made by the cabinet of forming LDC now has become successful. All Lepchas are happy, he said.
“This is neither our political demand nor related to demarcation. It is for the development of all the Lepchas who reside in West Bengal. This has been possible after a long time”, expressed NT Lepcha and added that the LDC is not formed to divide the communities, it is only formed with an aim to develop the Lepchas.
Further he also made it clear that being satisfied with the passing of the resolution they are against Gorkhaland demand.
“A separate state should be formed as through this the areas will be developed”, he concluded.
