One died while eight survived with injuries in a road accident which occured at around 11 a.m today near Mam Khola under 6 Mile area along the NH 31A. The Tata Spacio vehicle bearing number WB 76-4890 with the passengers in it skidded off the 50 ft. below the road. It has been informed that the vehilce was ferrying towards Gangtok from Siliguri. The deceased has been identified as Dipu Pandey, a resident of Howrah. As per the information received from the sources, three passengers who were seriously injured were taken to the Kalimpong Sub Divisional Hospital and has been further reffered to a hospital in Siliguri. The rest are being delivered medical aid at Melli Hospital. The seriously injured are Pradeep Chettri (driver), Champa Hazra and Pramila Shah. It is being opined that the passengers were tourists who were on their way to visit Sikkim.
