SSB battalion move out from hills
Kalimpong, Sept 28:
The state government has begun withdrawing central forces in the hills in a move that is being taken straight after a new GTA chief was elected yesterday while the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJM) reverted to the GTA.Sources said one company of SSB deployed at Teesta along National Highway 31-A moved towards another destination towards the plains. The force was camping in the area since August16 during when the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) sponsored indefinite bandh was in the offing. Darjeeling district superintendent of Police Kunal Agarwal confirmed the movement of the SSB jawan from the Teesta area but failed to point out a specific time on when all the central forces deployed all across the hills would be sent off. Sources however told Himalayan Mirror, that CRPF forces that have been deployed in Kalimpong town and Algarah would be leaving the place in a day or two.
Meanwhile, the Morcha’s Kalimpong chapter has called for a 12 general strike in the Kalimpong town tomorrow in protest against the rape incident of a 16 year old girl in Darjeeling this after afternoon.
