CHILDLINE Observe Children's Day

On the occasion of Children's Day, a day dedicated to children, is observed as an event across the world to celebrate childhood and promote awareness about children's rights and welfare.
Likewise, this year, Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust (BSA) and Anugyalaya Darjeeling Dioceses Social Service Society (ADDSSS) in consensus with Darjeeling District Child Rights NGO Network (DDCRNN) celebrated Children’s Day at the District by putting up posters on Child Rights at government offices and public places all over Kalimpong Sub-division.
Celebration began at 9.00 am where Shri. Puneet Yadav, District Magistrate of Darjeeling launched the child rights posters by pasting the first poster in front of District Magistrate’s Office, Darjeeling. Since Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust (BSA) is also a partner of CHILDLINE India Foundation, BSA children gave CHILDLINE Se dosti(Friendship with Children) band to the District Magistrate and other officers. On behalf of the DDCRNN, Mr. Nirnay Chettri (General Secretary from MARG) & Ms. Nicole Lepcha (Program Manager from World Vision India) were present in the programme.
Kalimpong Sub-division
At the Sub-divisional level, Smt. Radhika Aiyar, Sub-divisional Officer Kalimpong, and Shri. Achinta Gupta, Inspector-in-charge of Kalimpong Police Station also launched Child Rights posters in front of their respective offices. BSA staffs, CHILDLINE team members & student volunteers from Cluny Community College Kalimpong, pasted posters on Child Rights all over Kalimpong town.
At the community level, BSA also celebrated Children’s Day by inaugurating the Child Rights Protection Desk (CRPD) and launched Child Rights posters at Pedong Gram Panchayat. Block Development Officer of Algarah Block, Assistant Labour Commissioner of Kalimpong Sub-division, members of the newly formed Pedong Vigilance Committee, community youth volunteers from Pedong and student volunteers from St. Xavier’s School, Pedong were invited for the programme. Child Rights Protection Desk aims to increase awareness & solve issues on Child Rights among community members in order to ensure that every child is protected and is able to enjoy their childhood. With the support of the youth and student volunteers, posters were pasted all over Pedong Gram Panchayat.
