In order to control the price of essential commodities, particularly vegetables, Kalimpong police and the district enforcement branch today evaluate and checked the price of vegetable at Kalimpong Hat Bazaar.

The drive has been necessitated by the soaring prices of these commodities and the move has been welcomed by consumers .

The price of a same commodity in a same market is seen unstable.

A little known district enforcement branch today with the help of kalimpong police conducted massive operation at vegetable market and some of the wholesale shop of vegetable.

Achintya.Gupta kalimpong police station in charge along with Jayanta sharma OC DEB Kalimpong who has been recently posted in kalimpong in this branch and SI Bablu Roy  led the drive and warned the shops who were selling vegetable at high prices.A totally unstable market was seen during the drive as today , at markets in potatoes were selling for Rs 32per kg -35per kg , onions at Rs 70-Rs.80 . All the sellers explained about the instability of the  prices.

The shopper were given a warning today to sell the commodities keeping a marginalized profit. They were also ordered to hand a rate board for the consumer.

Achintya.Gupta kalimpong police station in charge said recently a section of traders in the markets here have been deliberately raising the prices of fresh vegetables .He said that in Kalimpong market value of the same goods varies from place to place which in incorrect.'We don't want any one to be cheated' for this consumer have to be beware. added Gupta.

He also warned the shops those found guilty will be dealt with according to the laws.
