The demand for a creation of New Block in NH.31 (A) region is gaining ground day by day. Only last week Political parties in Teesta town and its surroundings have joined hands demanding the formation of a Block Development Office in town. Residents, along with party workers, have formed a ‘New Block Formation Committee ' which is spear heading the movement along with individual efforts of All the Political parties to take their demand before the government. The Committee which include parties such as the GJM, TMC, GNLF, CPRM and a political about a dozen non political organizations . Kalimpong Sub division is busy nowadays receiving the grievances of people of Tista . Almost last three days the office in getting memorandum in favor of Formation of New Block.

The demand include a merger of the Teesta Gram Panchayat, Takling (1) and (2) Gram Panchayats, Rambi Gram Panchayat and Lamahatta Gram Panchayat and Form a news Block as the member regularly informed the administration that the area has facilities such as a primary health center, higher secondary school and police station ,bank making it eligible to have a Block Development Center.

Tista was shifted to Takdah Block from Kalimpong One in a draft proposal which has been made by GTA.

The point of Argument starts right here.Tista is nearer to kalimpong with just 16 km but the proposed Takdah Block is about 30 kms that too on a non busy road. People of Tista enjoy all administrative facilities in Kalimpong in a Limited Area.But inclusion of Tista GP to Takdah will result The change of Sub division too which will be Darjeeling.

TMC party, New Block Formation Committee, and GNLF has already submitted the memorandum to SDO kalimpong.

Meanwhile CPRM NH zonal committee has sent a memorandum to The Principal Secretary Panc

The SDO has assured to place the demands before higher authorities for necessary action.
