Standard 11th & 12th of SUMI becomes Co- Ed along with introduction of Commerce stream

KALIMPONG, May 23:
After
stepping in its 126th year, the Scottish Universities Mission
Institution (SUMI) has gained recognition from the West Bengal Council of
Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) vide Memo No 07024/ SBPN/01153/2012to
introduce Commerce stream for 12th standard. The Memo had been
issued on May 15, 2012.

The
SUMI Principal, NR Pradhan informed that standard 11th and 12th
have been made Co- Education (Co- Ed) on the basis of the letter issued on May
18 by the WBCHSE vide Memo No N007024/ CoEd/ 01236. Until now the SUMI, a fully
boys School will now start enrolling its girl candidates. The Institution now
caters Arts, Science, Agriculture and Commerce streams to the students. Pradhan
further acquainted that the Commerce stream and Co- Ed classes will commence
from this academic year i.e. 2012- 2013. Expressing his happiness over the
same, the Principal said that they have been trying to introduce Commerce
stream and to make standard 11th and 12th Co- Ed. Before
only one School in Kalimpong had Commerce stream and now after it has been
introduced in SUMI the students have other options too.
