KALIMPONG, June 14:

The Darjeeling District Superintendent of Police (SP), Kunal Agarwal today reached Kalimpong in order to inspect the landslide which occurred at the Shopping Complex construction site situated near Novelty Cinema Hall. It may be noted that the landslide which happened due to Wednesday night’s heavy downpour poses threat to the Police Quarters located adjacent to the site.
After the inspection the Superintendent, mentioned that the Darjeeling hills is prone to landslides. Pin pointing that it’s the mistake from the Municipality’s side; he asserted that building a protection wall before
 cutting the mud is a must. Further he appealed the Municipality to build a protection wall as soon as possible so that more landslides (caused by the mud cutting) can be prevented in the future.
