Drivers Union black flag petrol hike, conducts Dharna
MUKESH SHARMA
KALIMPONG,
May 31:
The regular movement of
the private vehicles today showed that the Kalimpong town was not much affected
by the All India Bandh. Only the taxi
drivers seemed to comply with the Bandh
orders, by conducting a Dharna demonstrating
black flags and voicing against the petrol hike. Today’s Dharna was organized at Damber Chowk under the leadership of the
Drivers Union President, Mahendra Gurung. The protestors seemed to be frequently
questioning the passersby that whether they are happy with the hike or not.
Although the taxis on School duty were allowed to ply still the locals and the
tourists faced inconvenience due to the halt of the general taxis on this day.
