Hills engulfed by the monsoons
MUKESH SHARMA
KALIMPONG, June 17:
The
heavy rainfall for more than 32 hours depicts that now the monsoons are at full
swing in the hills. The weather forecasting instruments set up at the Scottish
Universities Mission Institute (SUMI) by the Bose Institute has recorded
rainfall above 250 mm within the past 32 hours. Due to the rainfall even the
temperature has decreased from 20 C to 18 C while the humidity lies at 100 and
the wind is blowing at a speed of 65 km/ hr. The weather is supposed to remain
the same for the next few days. Luckily no natural calamities at large have
occurred until now.
