KALIMPONG, June 20:
The
Kalimpong Primary Teacher Training Centre (BT College) is finally reopening
after being shut down for the last 6 years. BT Colleges is one of the 43
Centres of West Bengal which is recognized by the National Council of Teachers
Education (NCTE). The admissions will start from this year’s session and all
the applicants are directed to order the NCTE rules and regulations. Before
this Centre was called as the Primary Teachers Training Institution (PTTI) but
now it has been named as Diploma and Elementary Education.
The
forms are being distributed from today itself which will go on till June 25,
2012. The prerequisite for admissions for the General is 50% in the Higher
Secondary whereas for SC, ST and OBC there is 5% relaxation in the same.
The
Principal of the BT College today attended the meeting called on by the West
Bengal Education Department at Kolkata to deliberate and discuss about the
Centre’s management.
Once
the BT College reopens, employment opportunities are expected for the educated
unemployed youths. It may be recalled that people have upraised an insurgency
demanding the reopening of BT College as soon as possible.
