2 daylong 198th Bhanu Jayanti concludes

The 2daylong 198th Bhanu Jayanti celebrations being held at Ram Krishna Rang Manch successfully concluded today. The programme jointly organized by the Nepali Sahitya Addhyan Samiti and Information & Cultural Department, Government of West Bengal also witnessed poet Rajendra Bhandari being awarded with the prestigious Bhai Chandra Puraskar yesterday.
The concluding function held under the Presidentship of the Samiti’s Vice President, Gyan Sutar was graced by the Kalimpong College Principal, Dr R P Dhakal as the chief guest whereas, the Information Officer, Mitendra Chettri was present as the guest of honour. During today’s function various competitions were held such as poetry recitation, Ramayana recitation, painting etc. The poets who were invited for the function also recited their self composed poems whereas, students from different Schools performed cultural dances.
Student of Kamal Jyoti School, Seema Rai was adjudged the winner of the poetry recitation competition while Sneha Grace from Rockvale Academy stood 1st in the painting competition. Sujata Pradhan and Shradha Khawas from Kamal Jyoti School were selected for the Ramayana recitation.
The judges for the poetry recitation and painting competition were poetesses, Sanumati Rai, Swarnim Dhamala, Nirmala Pradhan and Sahadev Giri. Likewise, Press Club President, Arun Kumar Rasaily, Principal Sanjay Bist, Jog Chamling and TN Subedi were the judges for the Ramayana recitation.
Later at the end of the programme, writer Sanjay Chettri from Sitog was presented the Purna Rai Smriti Puraskar along with a cash award of Rs 3000/-, eulogy letter and a souvenir for his story titled, ‘Katha jastai sancho katha’. Nigam Thapa of Saptashri Gyanpeeth, Atina Lepcha from Dr Graham Homes, Hatsa Bhutia of St Joseph’s Convent and Rajat Subba from Vrindavan School were also awarded for securing the highest ranks during their ISC and ICSE this year.
