Sahitya Utthan Samiti celebrates 161st birth anniversary of Padri, Ganga Prasad Pradhan

The
Sahitya Utthan Samiti today celebrated the 161st birth anniversary
of Padri, Ganga Prasad Pradhan at the town’s Disha Bhawan. Litterateur, Sanumati
Rai was present as the Chief Guest of the programme which was being organized
under the Presidentship of Academic, PR Pradhan.
Tarun
Kumar Rai and Director of Hill Channel, Jilash Ghataraj in the field of
journalism, Principal of Scottish Universities Mission Institution (SUMI), Nava
Ratna Pradhan in the field of education and Nar Bahadur Dahal, Solen Karthak
and Tara Lohar Lepcha in the field of literature were felicitated during the
occasion.
The
Principal of Kalimpong College, Sanjay Bisth who is also a writer highlighted
the life of Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan. He also spoke about language,
literature and journalism. The gathering also observed a 2mins silence mourning
the recent death of litterateur Sharad Chettri. An essay competition was also
held during which winners were awarded by the hands of the guests present
