No participation of Darjeeling District Congress in GTA elections

Following
the decision of Gorkha Rashtriya Nirman Morcha (GRNM), Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha
League (ABGL) and Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM), the
Darjeeling District Congress has also decided not to partake in the forthcoming
Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) elections.
Informing
about the same, the District Secretary, Dilip Pradhan notified that the Party
after conducting many Regional and State level meetings on the GTA elections
have decided not to participate. “We neither are against the GTA, nor are we
for it”, he stated. The Darjeeling District Congress is in fact still stuck on
its demand of a separate Darjeeling, and soon after the GTA elections they will
be conducting programmes regarding the same keeping Delhi as the main centre,
he added. Further, Pradhan mentioned that though the Party is not participating
in the elections, still the party workers can contest as independent candidates
from 6- 8 No Constituencies.
