A meeting between the representatives of all farmer organizations of Algarah under Kalimpong Block II, Block level officers and officials of the bank was held today at the office of the farmers’ organization at Algarah. VCC Singh along with BDO Darshana Subba, Central Bank’s Snehalata Lama and official of Central Bank, Algarah Branch, Jeewan Bantawa were present as the chief guests.

It was decided during the meet that a Joint Liability Group will be formed and the schemes of the centre will be received from the Bank through Farmers’ Credit Card. Under the scheme of the Centre comes animal husbandry, home stay and cottage industry. While through Farmer’s Credit Card, insurance for ginger, cardamom, orange and chilli pepper can be done.

It was also informed during the meet that the farmer’s representatives will be included in the Bankers Committee meeting held quarterly. The decision to initiate Business Facilitator Model at the villages and other remote areas was also taken. Under this model, a person linked with the bank will work at the remote areas and educate the farmers about the schemes. The Krishak Sangh also agreed to hold a Recovery Camp with the help of the bank every 6 months. The small scale farmers will be benefitting from the Industrial Benefit Scheme in a proper manner.
