The Kalimpong Chatt Puja Sewa Samiti held a meeting under the presidentship of Laxman Prasad today in the town. A new committee for this year’s Chatt puja celebration was formed with a unanimous decision, which has Lalit Sharma as the President, Shyam Babu Prasad as the Secretary and Monohar as the Treasurer.

Similar to evey year, the Chatt puja will be celebrated with full religious fervor at the Mela Gorund. The meeting decided that they will not be collecting funds from the town this year. However, those who wish to contribute may drop their contributions at the counter which will be installed at Mela Ground. It was also decided that all the Schools will be requested personally to grant holiday on the eve of the puja. The Education Department will be forwarded a letter requesting the same.

Following the yearly tradition of felicitating the individuals from the Bihari community for their contributions, the committee shall do the same this year, too. The committee has also appealed all the businessmen from the Bihari community and the devotees of Chatt puja to close their commercial establishments during the puja.
