Kalimpong, January 05:
The GTA/ hills were deprived of enrolment of Primary teachers and similarly, it is now deprived of enrolment of Group D employees, has alleged the CPM leader, Tara Sundas.
Speaking during a media conference today, Sundas said that the state’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) has decided to enroll 3000 Group D employees in different departments of the state. However, no such decisions include the GTA area. According to him, the state’s Cabinet meeting held on October 19, 2012, the decision of employing Group D employees at a monthly wage of Rs 6,600/- was passed. 1092 employees under Irrigation department, 1015 under Agriculture department, 467 under PHE, 100 under PWD, 55 under Youth Affairs, 50 under Municipality and 200 under Industries department will be deployed, it has been decided. The state’s Finance department has also issued a notice regarding the same.
Saying that before any posts are to be filled, proper advertisement and information should be provided, Sundas said that the state government advertised the matter in only one daily newspaper, that too in short and less described.
“The government is trying to conduct the employment in a disorganized manner”, alleged the CPM leader.
He also alleged the state’s Finance Minister, Partha Chatterjee of misusing the responsibility which the state’s Chief Minister laid upon him.
Sundas believes that the state’s TMC Ministers are employing their own chosen candidates through recommendations in various departments.
“We totally condemn such employments”, he said and demanded that jobs should be offered by looking at the capability of the candidate.
“In one hand people are getting employed through recommendations, while in the other there are no employment steps taken in the hills”, he said.
“1000s of unemployed are sitting idle. Nothing has been done in making the temporary workers regular. And the state has already declared that decisions will be taken to regularize the Group D employees after 240 days past their employment. Our hills’ representatives remain silent”, he said.
