To pressurize the Gorkhaland demand, a public meeting will be held on Mela Ground, Kalimpong, on Thursday under the direction of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Central Committee by the Kalimpong Sub Divisional Committee.
After the formation Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) peaceful atmosphere up to some extent was being created in the hills, however, the Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde’s statement on Telangana formation has yet again made the situation in the hills tumultuous. He had said that by January 28, 2013, the final decision on Telangana would be declared.
The Morcha on January 20, 2013 during a meeting at Darjeeling kept forward the Gorkhaland demand.
The GJM has further decided to hold mass public meetings at Kurseong on January 29, 2013 and also in Mirik later in the days to come. On February 12, 2013, the Morcha will be chalking out the future agitation programmes.
The Morcha Central Committee General Secretary, Roshan Giri along with the Kalimpong MLA, Dr Harka Bahadur Chettrim Darjeeling Sub Divisonal Committee, Vice President, Sawan Rai and the office bearers of the Kalimpong Sub Divisional Committee will be present during the meeting on Thursday.
The Sub Divisional Committee, Secretary, Kumar Chamling has appealed all the members of the Morcha, Yuva Morcha, Naari Morcha, parent body and all supporters to attend the meet.
