Celebrated Nepali poet of the Hills Birendra Subba will be awarded with the Parasmani Award this year. The Nepali Sahitya Adhyan Samiti president MB Pradhan today informed the above in a programme that was held in the Bhai Chandra hall in Kalimpong.

Pradhan said that there were 65 nominations for the award and at last the name of veteran Birendra Subba of Darjeeling was chosen. The award will be given on January 26. The poet in his name has a range of writings and some of the important are Akanta, Meghmala, Muool Sadak, Teesta Khanda Kabya etc. The Samiti also felicitated Kamal Regmi who was conferred with the Sahitya Akademi Award by the Sahitya Akademi Delhi last year.
